A little exploring

We wanted to take a drive further up the road we came in on. Our map was a little unclear. Whatever canyon we were in was absolutely gorgeous! The pictures don’t do it justice. And the fact that people have built homes back there accessed by very steep driveways was also amazing. We saw a roadrunner, a tree across the road dropped by a beaver, and of course cows. The road took us to Cripple Creek (elevation 9300’) which is overrun by casinos and tour buses. We drove on to Mueller state park to see if we would consider camping there someday. Right now, that’s a hard no. Not our kind of place at all. Too many big rigs cramped together.
We went back the same way taking in the views from a different angle. We realized how much we had climbed by how much downhill we went on the way back. Highly recommend this drive if you want to see some beautiful sights. We saw a total of 6 people.
By the time we got back to our campsite we were too worn out to do much. It also looked like it could rain. We are still “nesting” in the camper but it sure is nice to cook out of the wind. We took Simon for a walk around the campground. He’s walking slower and struggles to keep moving 😢. We are considering moving to another site since the we can hear the campground host’s generator. Tonight we will put the awning down before we go to bed.
