This BLM site is 14 miles north of Cañon city. We are pleasantly surprised at how easy it is getting here, the layout of the campground and the price just $10 a night with our senior pass.
There’s alot to do around here including the drive to cripple creek along the Shelf Road, gravel & mountain biking and hiking. Lots of geology and archaeological history in this area. It’s open year round and mostly used for rock climbers. We say we will come back.
It is unseasonably warm now yet we are the only ones the campground. Maybe it’s busier on weekends. We were quite comfortable day and night despite the strong winds every night 🤷♂️. Simon did good coming in and out but preferred outside at night.
