What a day!

We started out enthusiastically to hike the Table Mountain trail near our campsite. 1.87 miles to the “summit “. No problem we thought. The pebbles on the trail tricked us. It was much harder than we thought! We didn’t want to end up like the poor coyote we saw. Rather than risk a fall or worse, we turned back. We were really tired when we got back to camp and that surprised us. Guess we need to get in shape!
To soothe our aching bodies, we booked a soak at the nearby Farwood Hot Springs. An hour in 105 degree water was all it took to loosen us up. Stopped at the campground visitor’s center for a shower and then back to camp. Where did the day go?
Tonight we enjoyed a delicious meal cooked on the Blackstone. Pork tenderloin, roasted potatoes and tomato slices. And then the sunset was amazing. And now the moon is nearly full.
We agreed that we enjoyed our stay at city of rocks even though our first few minutes of setting up in the wind were not pleasant. Tomorrow we are off to White Sands National Park and the dunes.
